Description

As modern diets tend to be low in fibre, supplementation is often required. Daily use of SMART FIBRE helps keep you regular by bulking and softening stools. This promotes normal bowel movement and healthy colon function, whilst supplementing your daily mineral requirements. You should notice the benefits of SMART FIBRE within one day, but as peoples’ colons vary greatly, a severely affected colon may take two to three days to respond.

SMART FIBRE tablets are made from a patented extract of the pure, natural dried leaves of Aloe ferox, which is naturally high in dietary fibre and minerals and is 100% pure and safe. It is organically certified.

SMART FIBRE contains NO stimulant laxatives, NO phytates or phytic acid, so won’t deplete your body of essential minerals, unlike other dietary fibres. Phytates are present in all seed and grain based dietary fibres such as bran, oats and ispaghula. Also, unlike most other Aloe ferox tablets, SMART FIBRE contains NO laxative aloin or anthraquinones. This means that SMART FIBRE may safely be taken every day of your life.

What is constipation?

If you experience less than 3 bowel movements a week you may have constipation. Everybody suffers from this condition at some time, sometimes chronically. It is often caused by a lack of fibre or roughage in the diet, or overuse of painkillers containing codeine or other opiates such as morphine (usually found post-operatively). The constipated colon is usually underactive and the stools dry, hard, compacted and difficult to move.

What is in Smart Fibre?

The 2 lowest rings of leaves are harvested from the organically grown Aloe ferox plant and a patented method is used to remove the bitter sap from the leaves. The leaves are then dried, milled into a powder and compressed into tablets. The dried Aloe ferox leaf is naturally high in dietary fibre and minerals (see the compositional analysis below).

The natural makeup of the leaf provides the following typical content per 500mg tablet:

Soluble dietary fibre 71.5mg
Calcium 19.30mg
Insoluble dietary fibre 143.5mg
Iron 0.15mg
Together total dietary fibre 215mg
Zinc 0.31mg
Total carbohydrates 250mg
Magnesium 3.85mg
Energy 0.9kJ
Phosphorous 0.25mg
Sugar or glucose 0
Potassium 2.7mg
Fats 0
Copper 0.007mg
17 different amino acids
Sodium 1.09mg
Nitrogen 3.05mg
Manganese 0.19mg
Selenium 0.0003mg

What is NOT in SMART FIBRE?

A remarkable difference between SMART FIBRE and other commercially available dietary fibre supplements is the complete absence of Phytates and Phytic acid. Phytates are present in all seed or grain based dietary fibres such as bran, oats and ispaghula. Phytates chelate (block) divalent cations such as calcium, magnesium and iron in the gut, effectively robbing the body of these essential minerals. Not only is SMART FIBRE phytate free (C.S.I.R. analysis), but it also contains significant quantities of minerals, particularly calcium (39% of RDA) and iron (25% of RDA) in the recommended daily dose of 9 tablets.

Unlike most other Aloe ferox tablets, SMART FIBRE tablets contain no aloin or anthraquinones. This means that SMART FIBRE may safely be taken every day of your life.

How does SMART FIBRE work?

SMART FIBRE has a number of health benefits. When taken by mouth the tablets break up in the stomach, absorb up to 7 times their weight in water and pass through to the small intestine. Once there, the soluble fibre slows down the absorption of glucose, effectively lowering the glycemic index of any meal or food taken at the same time. This helps to keep the glucose level in the blood steady without ‘highs or lows’. The minerals in SMART FIBRE are absorbed in the small intestine, providing a healthy mineral supplement to the diet. Once the SMART FIBRE has passed through the small intestine it moves on into the large intestine (the colon). This is where the insoluble fibre provides the bulk and water carrying properties of the stool. The effect is to soften the stool and promote regular normal bowel movements.

Can I take anything else with SMART FIBRE if my bowels refuse to work?

Yes. ALOX HEALTH produces another bowel health product, EVAX. If you are taking SMART FIBRE and you are still constipated, take 2 EVAX capsules at night with the SMART FIBRE tablets and your bowels should work the next morning. ALOX HEALTH recommends that you then increase your daily dosage of SMART FIBRE until your bowels have normalised.

Is SMART FIBRE safe?

Yes, SMART FIBRE is extremely safe. SMART FIBRE contains no stimulant laxatives and works purely through its high dietary fibre content to bulk up the stools and promote regular normal bowel movements. SMART FIBRE contains no Phytates or Phytic acid and therefore will not rob your body of essential minerals like other dietary fibres. SMART FIBRE is therefore the ideal fibre to take for the rest of your life.

How many SMART FIBRE tablets should I take?

The normal dosage of SMART FIBRE is 3 tablets 3 times daily before or with meals. The tablets should be taken with at least half a tumbler of water. Because peoples’ colons and diets are not all the same, some people may only need three tablets per day; others may need fifteen. SMART FIBRE tablets are very safe; you can take as many per day as your system needs to keep regular. Children who are old enough to swallow tablets can take 1 or 2 tablets with each meal.

I am on a diet to lose weight. Is it alright for me to take SMART FIBRE?

Yes. Adults who are on weight loss programs are often on calorie restricted diets and this frequently leads to inadequate fibre intake for normal bowel function. Constipation is the inevitable result. SMART FIBRE is the ideal low kilojoule supplement to take to keep the bowel regular. Regulating the bowel in this manner will keep it (and you) healthy during calorie restricted diets. It may also help to prevent complications such as diverticular disease and other colon problems.

Can I take SMART FIBRE tablets if I am pregnant?

Yes. SMART FIBRE is the ideal product to use for the sluggish colon often experienced by pregnant women. During pregnancy you are eliminating waste products for both yourself and your baby and it is therefore very important that your colon is working normally. During pregnancy it is even more important not to rob your body (and your baby) of essential minerals by taking phytate-containing grain based fibres. SMART FIBRE actually supplements the body with natural, healthy minerals.

Are there any people who should not take SMART FIBRE?

No, apart from children who cannot yet swallow tablets.
There is not much point in taking SMART FIBRE if you have had a colostomy (had your colon removed) as the fibre works through the colon.

Are there any side effects?
At the normal dosage, no side-effects have been reported in the 5 years that SMART FIBRE has been on the market.

What will happen if I overdose on SMART FIBRE?

As SMART FIBRE can absorb up to 7 times its own weight in water, a large (3 to 4 times normal) number of tablets taken without enough water may cause a bowel obstruction. If someone has overdosed on SMART FIBRE tablets they should be given up to a litre of water or non-alcoholic liquid to drink.
